UCF Zeta Tau Alpha raises $32,500 to fight breast cancer
UCF Zeta Tau Alpha has crowned its 2015 Zeta Lip Sync champions and raised $32,500 for breast cancer awareness in the process.
The sorority's annual dance competition was held Thursday in the CFE Arena. Thousands of UCF Greeks joined forces to support Zeta's efforts to go pink, all while battling over who has the smoothest moves.
The winners are:
Women's Overall- Alpha Delta Pi
1st- Delta Delta Delta
2nd- Pi Beta Phi
3rd- Kappa Delta
Most Spirited- 2015 Rho Gammas
Men's Overall- Sigma Chi
1st- Alpha Tau Omega
2nd- Delta Upsilon
3rd- Phi Delta Theta
The overall winners were determined by points earned through Zeta's week of philanthropy events, such as its Kiss Away Cancer events and a barbecue at Lake Claire.
Zeta kicked off its philanthropy week with the Kiss Away Cancer events on Sept. 22, Sept. 29 and Sept. 30 outside the Student Union. Students were encouraged to donate to support breast cancer education and awareness and in return apply bright lipstick and kiss a banner.
On Sept. 28, the sisters and UCF Kappa Sigma held a car wash at the fraternity's house on Greek Park Drive and raised more than $800 to fight breast cancer.
Last year, the sorority raised more than $25,000 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
