Have concerns about campus safety? UCF's Campus Activities Board is slated to hold a Town Hall meeting on Monday for the community to make its voice heard.

The UCF Police Department and Victim Services will be present at the event that Mr. UCF Dominique Harris is hosting at 7 p.m. in the Cape Florida Ballroom of the Student Union.

"The meeting is designed to allow students to communicate with local law enforcement, address some of the current issues related to police brutality and foster a sense of safety on our campus," according to CAB's website.

Students, faculty, staff and parents are welcome to attend to the event. The first hour of the meeting will be information-based from UCF Police, followed by at least an hour for students to ask questions and discuss any uneasiness.

Harris said he has heard a reccurring theme among Knights that reflects a larger, national issue of police brutality.

“Students on campus are basically more concerned with the cops on campus than the criminals," he said.

A Facebook page for the event is already buzzing with activity from concerned parents of UCF students, specifically in regards to a lack of proper lighting on campus.

"More than anything I hope that this improves communication between students and law enforcement," Harris said.
