College of Graduate Studies begins search for new dean
UCF's College of Graduate Studies is searching for a new dean who will double as the new vice president for research and serve as a member of the President's Advisory Staff.
As part of the interview process, the college will hold open forums where four candidates will present their views for combining research and graduate studies to promote the university's academic mission, according to a press release.
Everyone is welcome to attend the forums. The first was held today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 220 of the Student Union for Dr. Colin Duckett of the University of Michigan.
The second candidate, Dr. Christopher Brown of North Carolina State University, will be interviewed tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Morgridge International Reading Center, Room 108.
The remaining candidates will be announced soon, according to a press release.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for all aspects of research and graduate education at UCF, leading both the Office of Research and Commercialization, also known as ORC, and the College of Graduate Studies.
ORC is responsible for supporting and assisting staff with the cultivation of new research ventures, funding opportunities, sponsored research and commercialization options. CGS aims to provide leadership for graduates, develop university-wide graduation plans and polices, according to its website.
The remaining open forums with potential candidates will be announced at a later date.
