UCF’s very own Cyndia Morales Muñiz was included on the list of top Latino leaders in the United States by the Council for Latino Workplace Equity.

Muñiz is the assistant director for UCF’s Multicultural Academic & Support Services and the president of the Latino Faculty and Staff Association at UCF, and this recognition will add to her already long list of accomplishments.

To date, Muñiz has been honored with the Orlando Business Journal’s "Women Who Means Business" award, the Women’s Achievement Award in Diversity in 2015 from the Women’s Executive Council of Orlando and she was an honoree for the "40 Under 40 Award" by the Orlando Business Journal.

Muñiz is now on a list with other well-acclaimed Hispanic figures, such as Columba Bush, former first lady of Florida and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez.

“It was a bit overwhelming to see my name listed alongside renowned leaders in our country,” Muñiz said in a press release. “It’s very fulfilling to know that my work is having a positive impact on our community. I appreciate the recognition and am happy to continue doing my part.”

From her humble beginnings in Brooklyn, New York, Muñiz accelerated and received her doctorate of education degree at UCF in 2013.

“UCF is at the national forefront of opportunity and excellence,” Muñiz said in the release. “I am grateful to learn and grow at UCF and am proud to represent UCF’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.”
