Bill Cosby should come clean about sexual allegations
Everyone knows the name Bill Cosby. He was Hollywood’s favorite TV dad on The Cosby Show, and one of comedy’s best performers, along with being a TV host and film actor. And it seemed he had a strong and loving marriage with his wife Camille of 51 years. So this is why it was an utter and complete shock when it was alleged earlier this year that he drugged and sexually molested over 40 women over the time span of the late 1960’s up to 2008. Seventeen of the alleged victims are being defended by one of Hollywood’s toughest attorneys, Gloria Allred.
One of the many alleged victims is one of America’s first models, Janice Dickinson. Dickinson is certainly a wild card, often being described as wacky and already having abusive past. But seeing her point the finger at Cosby and saying he drugged and raped her made me, initially, upset with her. How dare she accuse lovable Bill Cosby of such a crime? He’s such a teddy bear and he was host of Kids say the Darndest Things!
How could this iconic father figure be such a monster?
But then other women came forward. Actresses, models, TV hosts, nurses, and many more spoke out against Cosby and suddenly his name and story was everywhere from news, talk shows, and other comedians blasting his name in their stand ups. Suddenly the name Cosby caused outrage instead of laughter. Some have chosen to stick by his side despite the allegations. Two of these people are former co-star Raven Symone and actress Whoopi Goldberg. However, it was recently revealed from a deposition tape that Cosby said he did in fact use drugs to manipulate and seduce women. This recent finding caused Goldberg along with other Cosby supporters to retract their statements of support.
Many, along with myself, were completely disgusted and angry at the thought of any of this being true. But what has really pissed me off is the fact that for weeks, even months, he refused to make a statement about the allegations against him. He continued to do stand-up comedy shows but remained quiet.
I understand that what the media and these women are saying must be tough on his family, especially his wife, who has stayed by his side and defended him. However, he needs to man up and face his fans and spectators and come clean about whatever he has actually committed. I’m not saying these women are lying, but there are two sides to every story, and I want to hear his. I want to hear the whole story and not some deposition video. I want Cosby to sit down and do media conference and be open and tell us the truth. As far as reruns of his shows, I thinks its best if they stay off the air for now.
