In a week that saw five UCF athletes earn American Athletic Conference honors, UCF also proved its success among athletes academically.
The NCAA released graduation success rates for the 2013-14 academic year, and UCF boasts the fifth-highest graduation success rate (GSR) for its student athletes among all NCAA Division I (FBS) schools with 95 percent.
Seven of the Knights athletic programs — men's golf, men's tennis, rowing, women's golf, women's soccer, women's tennis and volleyball — had a 100 percent GSR.
UCF's football program claimed a 90 percent GSR, which ranks 10th among all FBS schools and third among Division I public schools. In the American Athletic Conference, the Knights hold the No. 1 spot, with Tulane coming in second at 85 percent. The Knights' football team beat the national GSR by 15 points. In the 2012-13 GSR report, UCF had a GSR of just 83 percent.
Additionally, eight other UCF programs are ranked No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference — men's soccer and seven of the aforementioned programs. Twelve of UCF's 14 programs had a 90 percent GSR or better.
In Florida, UCF claimed the top spot among all NCAA Division I institutions, with Florida State University coming in second at 84 percent GSR. The University of Florida and the University of South Florida were each at 83 percent.
UCF's cumulative 95 percent GSR is 11 points above the national average, also marking a school record.
