The UCF Athletics Hall of Fame is continuing its growth.
Former football player Asante Samuel is joined by softball player Stephanie Best, baseball and football player Dee Brown and the 1978 national champion volleyball team to be enshrined in the April 17 ceremony.
"We're very excited to welcome this new class into the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame," Athletic Director Todd Stansbury said in a release. "We look forward to officially inducting them during Hall of Fame Weekend. This event sold out very quickly last time, so I encourage fans who want to help us honor some of the best Knights ever to get tickets early and join us at Bright House Networks Stadium on April 17."
Samuel, who was a fourth-round draft pick of the New England Patriots, set the UCF record for career pass breakups with 38. He also won three Super Bowls and was selected to four Pro Bowls.
Best sits atop the UCF record books in numerous offensive categories — including home runs, RBIs, hits and walks — and was voted onto the All-Atlantic Sun first team three times, and the second team once.
Brown is the only UCF athlete who has ever hit a home run and scored a touchdown in the same season. The two-sport star holds the all-time UCF record for hits and RBIs. He also also scored four career rushing touchdowns and made 18 tackles.
The 1978 national champion volleyball team went a perfect 55-0 and assisted in setting a program record of 69 consecutive victories.
The Induction Ceremony will take place at the J. Rolfe Davis Recruiting Lounge at Bright House Networks Stadium, and tickets are $65 apiece. Tables for 10 can be purchased for $600.
