Freshmen guards B.J. Taylor and Adonys Henriquez both earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team.
The Orlando natives are among only three freshman duos in the country to lead their team in scoring, according to a release from UCF. Taylor was atop the offense finishing the season averaging 12.5 points per game and scoring in double figures in 16 games this season. He also finished 12th in the league in scoring. Henriquez was solid for the Knights from downtown connecting on 61 three-pointers and recording 10.6 points per game on the season.
The freshmen each earned the AAC Rookie of the Week award three times this season. Only three Knights have been named to the conference first team in program history-- A.J. Rompza (2008-09), Keith Clanton (2009-10) and Marcus Jordan (2009-10) back when UCF was a part of the Conference USA. The honor makes Taylor and Henriquez the second pair of Knights given this honor in the same season.
The two will be back in action on Thursday at 3:30 as UCF kicks off the first round of the AAC tournament against East Carolina in Hartford, Connecticut.
