UCF senior infielder Kahley Novak might soon join the ranks of former UCF athletes playing in the pros.
Novak, UCF's all-time leader in stolen bases, was selected 16th overall in the National Pro Fastpitch draft to the Dallas Charge on Thursday.
"This is something I've been working for since I was 7-years-old," said Novak in a press release. "I can't believe it's actually happened."
The release stated that only three former UCF players have ever played in the NPF: Stephanie Best, Allison Kime and Breanne Javier. However, Novak and Best were the only Knights to be drafted.
NCAA rules prevent student athletes from signing professional contracts until their collegiate season is over. The NPF season runs from May until the middle of Aug.
