No. 17 UCF continues to rake in American Athletic Conference awards. Junior Shelby Turnier kept her crown as the top pitcher in the conference for the fourth week running. Senior Kahley Novak got in on the action with UCF's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
Sporting the best earned run average in the NCAA with 0.66, Turnier has not allowed a run in 34 consecutive innings and has allowed just one run in her previous 71 innings pitched. She leads the nation in shutouts with nine.
Novak's honor amplifies the Knights' offensive production that has been heavily overshadowed by their phenomenal pitching. She stole five bases and rounded out the week with seven hits, seven runs, a .500 batting average and two RBI in three games.
She also leads the Knights with 29 runs and 34 stolen bases. She has only been caught stealing six times this season. She is second on the team in hits with 48 and moved into seventh place all-time among hits recorded at UCF.
Turnier and Novak have helped their team to a 40-6 record, the fastest UCF team to hit the 40-win mark in the program's young history, which began in 2002.
