Fellow Knights Tyler Pate and Francesc Aulina were named as 2015 International Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete winners on Thursday.
The duo participated in singles and doubles matches for UCF last season, which went 15-10.
Redshirt senior Aulina earned his name to the list for the third consecutive year, becoming the second Knight in history to do so. He was named the ITA Most Improved Player (Senior) of the Year in 2015 after compiling a 9-10 overall record in singles competition and a 5-15 record in doubles.
Aulina made the Dean’s List four times and was named to the President’s List three times during his four years at UCF, according to a UCF Athletics press release. He graduated in the spring with a bachelor’s in finance.
Pate’s freshman season saw him compile a 1-3 record in singles matchups and a 6-8 doubles record.
Aulina, a Barcelona, Spain native and Pate, a native of Lake Alfred, Florida, competed in four doubles matches as partners, amassing a 1-3 record.
To be eligible for the award, students must compete at the varsity level and be enrolled for two semesters at their present school, maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or better.
