Two members of the UCF women’s soccer team picked up Player of the Week accolades from the American Athletic Conference Monday.

Redshirt sophomore Kayla Adamek was named Offensive Player of the Week after she recorded an assist in the overtime game-winning goal against SMU Thursday and two goals at Houston Sunday, which extended the Knights' winning streak to four games.

This is Adamek’s second career award as she previously received a rookie award in 2013. She is also the third Knight to earn the recognition this season, a feat no other team in the league has accomplished, according to the release.

Additionally, goalkeeper Vera Varis was named Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week. Varis guarded the goal for the duration of the game at Houston to help lead UCF to its first road sweep of the conference season. Additionally, she is the only student-athlete to receive the rookie honor multiple times this season.

UCF now has 10 Player of the Week honors this year, a league best. According to the release, other players honored include: Ashley Spivey (Offensive); Carol Rodrigues (Offensive, 2x); Jessica Taylor (Rookie); Saga Fredriksson (Defensive, 2x) and Bridget Callahan.

The Knights conclude their regular season against USF at home Friday for Senior Knight at 7 p.m. Fireworks at Memory Mall for Homecoming weekend will follow the match.

UCF will also give away a pair of tickets at the match to the World Cup Champions’ game at the Citrus Bowl on Sunday against Brazil in honor of the U.S. Women’s National Team in Orlando on its Victory Tour, according to the release.
