Redshirt seniors Thomas Niles, Joseph Puopolo and Cedric Thompson have been elected to be the Knights’ team captains for the remainder of the 2015 season, the team announced Thursday on its Twitter.

Niles has been elected captain four games this season. Puopolo and Thompson have each been elected for three. All three have been captains together two times this season.

At least one of them has been a captain in every game except Furman this season.

During Niles’ UCF career, he has never missed a game. Last season, he earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team and was voted to the All-AAC Second Team. Through seven games, he has 17 total tackles, including 1.5 for loss. He has recorded 126 total tackles, including 29.5 for loss and 16.5 sacks during 46 games as a Knight.

In 2014, Puopolo was chosen to the AAC All-Academic Team and was awarded the team’s Iron Man award as the best weightlifter.

Thompson was honored on the AAC All-Academic Team in 2014. During his career, he has rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on 37 attempts in 42 games.
