The women’s soccer team closed out its regular season Oct. 23, winning its last five games in a row to boost the team’s record to 11-5-1.
The Knights defeated No. 18 USF 3-1 to close out their regular season and earned two more American Athletic Conference honors Monday to go with the victory.
Junior forward Carol Rodrigues picked up her third Offensive Player of the Week and freshman goalkeeper Vera Varis earned her third consecutive Rookie of the Week.
The Knights have earned a Player of the Week award in five weeks out of the 10-week season and have accumulated a league-high 12 honors.
Along with Rodrigues’ three offensive awards, senior Ashley Spivey and redshirt sophomore Kayla Adamek have each earned one. Sophomore Saga Fredriksson has earned two defensive awards while sophomore Bridget Callahan has earned one. Freshman forward Jessica Taylor has earned a Rookie of the Week and Varis’ three rounds out the Knights.
UCF opens the AAC Championships Tuesday as the No. 3 seed. It will face SMU at 8 p.m. in Dallas, Texas. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
