UCF basketball guard B.J. Taylor was ruled out Thursday for the Knights season opener on the road against Davidson Saturday.
UCF Assistant Athletics Director Andy Seeley said Taylor will not play and there’s no timetable for his return.
Although Athletics has not yet responded as to why Taylor is out, the Orlando Sentinel reported that the sophomore, for the past three weeks, has been nursing a deep-bone bruise in his foot.
Taylor is the Knights starting guard who led UCF and all freshmen in the league with 12.8 points per game.
The Orlando native impressed in his first season at UCF, playing in and starting 26 games. He was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team, earning AAC Rookie of the Week honors three times and named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll once.
