UCF freshman Tacko Fall was awarded Rookie of the Week by the American Athletic Conference, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The 7-foot-6 center led the Knights in scoring, rebounding and blocks in their last two matchups, averaging 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and three blocks. Fall also shot 76.5 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
Fall’s first conference honor is coming after a 94-85 road win over Stetson during which he posted career-highs in points and rebounding, scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.
He continued his consistent play with another solid performance in a home win against UIC. Fall posted eight points, six rebounds and three blocks, resulting in an 88-58 blowout versus the Flames.
The Senegal native is averaging 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.83 blocks per contest. Fall’s blocks per game currently rank 12th in the NCAA.
Fall will look to build on his solid performance Tuesday night against UMass at the CFE Arena. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 P.M. and will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
