The UCF Knights (4-3) are in the midst of a three-game winning streak and are looking to continue their hot play against in-state rival, the Florida Atlantic University Owls (2-5), tonight at 7 p.m.
UCF has dominated the matchup with a 21-9 overall record versus FAU. But the last two meetings have belonged to the Owls — the Knights have not won against them since 2006.
The Knights won a thrilling 67-63 against UMass Tuesday night. Shaheed Davis made a pivotal tip-in with 2.4 seconds left to give UCF a two-point lead. The Knights had four different players in double figures, with A.J. Davis leading them with 14 points.
One of the main keys to the Knights success this season has been defense and rebounding.
The Knights are currently tied for No. 9 in the NCAA in rebounds per game with 45.0; they rank No. 20 in defensive field goal percentage, with their opponents shooting just 36.6 percent from the field.
Senior Daiquan Walker is the player to watch this game. Over the last two games, Walker averaged 16 points, two assists and four rebounds in his 20 minutes off the bench.
