For the second time this season, freshman center Tacko Fall has made his mark on the court and in the record books by garnering the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week award for his strong performance during the final week of regular season play.
Posting an average of 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in the final week, Fall will help take on Tulane for the third time this year hoping for a third straight win against the team. Fall shot 93.3 percent from the field this past week and will look to contribute that success on the court going into the AAC post-season tournament.
Finishing the season at the top of the conference in blocks with 67, Fall also placed in the top-30 nationally with 2.31 blocks per game. With Fall holding the freshman record for most blocks in a season, he hopes to climb to 75 to beat the all-time UCF record held by John Friday, who made his mark during the 1986-87 season.
If all goes as planned, UCF will take on the No. 2 seeded team, Houston, in the second round of tournament play. Fall has totaled 213 points and 164 rebounds over the course of the season on 505 total minutes played.
