The news hit this week that center Justin McBride will be leaving UCF.
Athletics Director Danny White confirmed to media Tuesday night during the first stop on the Charge On Tour in Downtown Orlando.
Yet to announce where he'll be transferring, McBride has been an integral part of the men's basketball team, averaging 6.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and shooting 60 percent from the field. In January, the 6-foot-10, 325-pound senior was awarded an American Athletic Conference honor, averaging 12 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
The news comes shortly after sophomore guard Adonys Henriquez received his official release from the team and transferred to play at St. Louis.
"I always encourage kids to make decisions that is in their best interest …" White told media Tuesday evening. "Typical with the coaching transition that we’d have some transfers — unless you hire the same exact type of coach, [you] shouldn’t be surprised."
Following the dismissal of former head coach Donnie Jones, who led the Knights for six season, Stanford's Johnny Dawkins was hired to turn the team around from its most recent 12-18 record.
Fans took to Twitter, thanking McBride for his efforts at UCF. He's responded to a few users wondering where he's headed that he's not sure.
