We constantly hear students complaining about how they wish the library were open 24 hours a day during finals week.

UCF officials and SGA representatives have commented on the issue several times, though, explaining that it would cost a lot of money to implement the program.

That hasn't stopped UCF from trying to accommodate students who need a place on campus to study. So far, the solution is transforming the Student Union into the "Study Union."

We think that if you give it a chance, you might forget about that building by the Reflecting Pond.

Besides staying open 24 hours a day, the staff is offering multiple incentives for people looking for a place to prepare for finals.

Thirty-three tutoring sessions will be held in the Union this week thanks to the Student Academic Resource Center. The all group sessions will utilize Elmo overheads, also known as document cameras.

The overheads use a large screen so all of the 200-500 students who are expected to attend the tutoring sessions can clearly see the materials.

For students who do not enjoy group studying, the Student Union is reserving the second floor for quiet studying. Even during exam week several thousand students will utilize the Student Union, so finding a silent spot could still be a stressful task.

UCF is looking for students to help with that issue, though. The Student Union is recruiting students to police the quiet areas to help ensure an environment conducive to studying.

If you need to access information from the Internet, the SGA Computer Lab is also open 24 hours a day during exam week.

To keep students fueled for finals, SGA is sponsoring four free midnight breakfasts.

Tonight's breakfast is from Subway and Smoothie King, and Monday's will be from Wackadoo's.

Joffrey's Coffee & Tea Company is pitching in and providing free coffee for 24 hours a day during finals week.

The Union might not be your first choice for studying, but until the university can find the funds to keep the library open during exam week, it is your best option.
