Rap music blasted heavily out of speakers as eager fans streamed into the UCF Arena last Friday for the Macadelic Tour of 2012.

Rapper Mac Miller was the main event of three acts.

“We’ve been waiting all year for this show,” said Olivia Fiedler, a senior at Boone High School.

The first act that took the stage consisted of a table with two DJ record players and an Apple computer. A DJ began spinning discs for the crowd. Shortly after, two rappers came on stage, spitting the freshest rhymes of the night. They revealed themselves as The Come Up and welcomed the crowd to the Macadelic Tour of 2012. The crowd was bigger now, and the dazed and starry-eyed fans reached their hands toward the sky and screamed for Miller.

At 7:56 p.m., the lights cued and The Cool Kids took the stage and started blazing out hits like “Fresher than You” and “Gold and a Pager.” They even brought it back to the old school, using some beats from Grandmaster Flash. Their set was short and simple, accompanied by a DJ. They informed the crowd it was their first time to Orlando, and they were excited to give them a show.

Finally, Miller stepped out on stage and the crowd was ablaze with excitement. A white sheet with a printed black-and-white sketch of Miller wearing a backward red baseball cap acted as the backdrop. In Miller’s left eye was a peace sign and in his right eye was a heart. A multi-colored rainbow light shined on his face. On the sides of the sheet, spiral lights rotated around his face. Busting out with hits like “Donald Trump” and “Frick Park Market,” Miller caused concertgoers to dance and scream for more. Miller even played some of his newer hits like “Loud.”

“[The show was] amazing! He is the next big thing,” sophomore education major Stacy Newt said.

There was a merchandise stand selling an array of the band’s T-shirts, tanks, sweaters, hats, bags and bracelets ranging from $15-$40. Personal shirts of all different styles for Miller were sported by the fans, many being hand crafted.

“[I got my Mac Miller shirt from] Hot Topic, that’s where everyone goes to get them, then you can spruce it up yourself,” freshman mathematics major Seth Seymoir said.

Mountain Dew was handing out free Mac Miller bags, posters and air fresheners that smelled like Mountain Dew to promote their new and rising recording label called the “Green Label,” which manages Miller and The Cool Kids.

Wiz Khalifa will join Miller for the latter half of his tour. To find out more about the tour, visit the website: Mac Miller.
