The Winter Park man who was arrested on June 1 in connection to a theft in the UCF Library was arrested again on June 11 and released today, according to UCF police.
Kevin Carlos Mills, 30, was released today from the Orange County Jail before 5 p.m. today, according to VINELink, the online version of the National Victim Notification Network.
Mills will be monitored by an active GPS unit known as "Tracker Pal" provided by Court Systems, Inc.
According to the Court Systems, Inc. website, Tracker Pal "is the only "one piece" active GPS unit on the market which allows you to communicate with the offender directly."
When arrested on Saturday, June 11, at 12:25 p.m., Mills was charged with one count of grand theft in the third degree, two counts of dealing in stolen property and two counts of receiving money from a pawnbroker by false verification, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
"We have recovered, now, a total of four laptops," said Sgt. Troy Williamson, spokesman for the UCF Police Department. "We're looking at possibly a fifth."
Williamson said a laptop was stolen sometime during the weekend, but they have not confirmed who is responsible.
Mills' June 1 arrest was in connection to a theft that occurred in the UCF Library on May 19 when nursing major Reema Rahal's laptop and wallet were stolen after she left them unattended for a short period of time.
Rahal's laptop was recovered from a pawn shop on East Colonial Drive after UCF police were able to trace Rahal's laptop's serial number.
Williamson is again advising students to enter their property's serial information on the UCF police website, so if a theft occurs, the recovery process will not be as difficult.
