With Veterans Day right around the corner, UCF and the city of Orlando will be hosting events to honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Here are some events going on around town this month to honor veterans and current military personnel:

Vehicles for Vets, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Show off your ride or check out other vehicles at the annual Vehicles for Vets car show at the Metro Life Church located on 910 S. Winter Park Drive, Casselberry, Florida.

Enjoy live entertainment, food trucks, trophies, raffles and more. All vehicles are welcome with a $10 registration donation, or $20 for premium placement. All proceeds will be donated to the local Volunteers of America of Florida.

College of Medicine events, Nov. 10 at 8:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m.

At 8:30 a.m., the College of Medicine will be placing 50 flags on the Tavistock Green. Each flag will represent a student, faculty or staff member who is a veteran.

At 2:30 p.m., medical students who are also military veterans will deliver a thank you card signed by the College of Medicine faculty, staff and students to the VA hospital in Lake Nona Medical City.

IHOP Free Patriotic Pancakes for Veterans at IHOP, Nov. 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Participating IHOP restaurants around the country will honor men and women currently serving or who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces with free patriotic pancakes as a small thanks for their bravery and service to the country.

College of Medicine events, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.

The College of Medicine will be hosting a Symposium on Veteran's Healthcare Needs at the College of Medicine Lewis Auditorium, with guest speakers such as former Florida Surgeon General Dr. Frank Farmer. Farmer served in the medical corps of the U.S. Army, Air Force and and Florida National Guard. Before attending medical school, he served in Vietnam as a captain in the Army.

Additionally, student veterans will wear their military uniforms to school and students, faculty and staff will wear red, white and blue to show their support.

Veterans Day Parade, Nov. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hosted by Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Veterans Advisory Council, the annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade honors the courageous men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. The parade will take place in Downtown Orlando and will begin at the intersection of Robinson Street and Orange Avenue and end at the intersection of Robinson Street and Rosalind Avenue. The parade will include more than 50 Central Florida veterans groups, military vehicles, ROTC and JROTC units, the UCF Marching Knights and other marching bands, first responders and other community groups. This year’s parade honors the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

Military Appreciation Day at Orlando Museum of Art’s Festival of Trees exhibit,  Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Orlando Museum of art will be offering discounted admission to their Festival of Trees exhibit for all military personnel, veterans and their immediate families. Attendees will enjoy special drawings, entertainment and giveaways.

UCF Military Appreciation Football Game, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

UCF will be hosting East Carolina and will be offering complimentary tickets to veterans, first responders and active military personnel to show gratitude for their service to the country. Those who are interested must register for their free ticket online at
