The Florida Highway Patrol entered a classroom on campus today searching for a student who they believe was involved in a hit-and-run crash.

Troopers were in search of Robert Fairchild, 33, in his class this morning and when they didn't find him there, they proceeded on to his residence, said Sgt. Kim Montes, the public affairs officer for FHP. Fairchild was found at his home and was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash.

The crash occurred on Aug. 28 at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Bonneville Road, Montes said. The crash involved two cars and the suspect fled on foot. The other driver, a 25-year-old man, received minor injuries and was transported to Florida Hospital East.
