UCF will kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with a visit from Marco A. Davis, deputy director for the White House Initiative on Education Excellence for Hispanics.

The event, which is open and free to the public, will take place Sept. 15 in the Student Union's Pegasus Ballroom from noon to 2 p.m.

The program will be hosted by the Hispanic American Student Association, with performances by UCF's dance club Latin Rhythm and Pleneros de la Central.

"Davis was appointed in January 2012 to help carry out efforts to improve the academic achievement of the nation's Latino students," a press release from UCF News and Information states.
