More than 50 students and residents stood along Clearlake Road in Cocoa today to oppose a four-person anti-gay protest by members of Westboro Baptist Church.

The 30-minute event, which began at 12:30 p.m., ended without incident or conflict when the group departed for another protest in Cocoa Beach.

About a dozen law enforcement officers from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office and Cocoa Police Department as well as campus security from Eastern Florida State College maintained a 200-yard separation between the two groups.

Two adults and two children from the Topeka, Kansas, church were cordoned near a University of Central Florida building, while the counter-protesters gathered near the entrance to Eastern Florida State College.
