UCF officers ramp up DUI enforcement leading up to Super Bowl
Before the Patriots and the Seahawks face off this Sunday, additional UCF police officers will be on the road in an effort to increase DUI enforcement leading up to the big game.
"We know that it's a popular party weekend, and we're joining agencies across Orange County to make the roadways safer and to remind anyone who is celebrating to do so safely and responsibly," said UCF spokeswoman Courtney Gilmartin in an email.
A DUI is a violation of UCF's Golden Rule, so if a student is charged with a DUI, they then enter the Office of Student Right's review process.
The university recommends that if students plan on drinking during the big game, they make sure they have a designated driver or alternative ride home to stay safe.
"Whether students are rooting for the Seahawks or the Patriots, just watching for the commercials and half time show, or only in it for the chips and dip, we want them to keep their safety in mind this Super Bowl weekend," Gilmartin said.
