The College Democrats at UCF tweeted Monday that the group is endorsing SGA presidential candidate Richard Stein for the upcoming election.

The organization's president, Chelsea Daley, said that members decided to support Stein's ticket because his platform points matched their own ideals, such as prioritizing job opportunities and minimizing harassment on campus.

"He came to present his campaign to our meeting with a notebook full of ideas that students gave him ... Yes, we are partisan, but we always want to stand with students," Daley said.

Daley explained that every year — except for the last, because there was no consensus — the organization chooses a ticket to endorse. While she acknowledges the other candidates' platform points, she said what sets Stein's apart is they come from ideas and concerns he's collected by visiting different departments and registered student organizations on campus.

"These points weren't created by him, they were created by students," Daley said, adding that the goals seem doable. She said that while his ideas are small, they are possible to accomplish within the upcoming school year.

"I think, like a lot of other RSOs, the College Democrats respect the fact that we're genuine," Stein said. "It's been an awesome experience working with them and I'm honored by their endorsement."
