Club 39 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel is hosting the TickleTheTroops comedy tour to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

Doors open on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $10 per person and can be reserved online at

Tour founder and Navy veteran Chuck Kirkpatrick said he started the military-themed tour with his friends after noticing that, “nobody did anything with comedy to support the Wounded Warriors.”

Proceeds from the night will go directly to Wounded Warriors. Kirkpatrick said he only takes enough to cover expenses such as gas and promotional posters.

“We love to do comedy anyway,” said Kirkpatrick. “It’s not like we were making a killing on comedy so we just decided to continue to do our comedy and then donate the proceeds, which is a good thing to do.”

Kirkpatrick, along with fellow Navy veterans, Rick Walters and Dick Kirtley, have been on tour for a little over a year and the response has been very positive.

“We keep track of our audience comment cards on every show that we do and we’re running about 96 percent of our audience have rated our show four or five stars,” said Kirkpatrick.

The tour sold out all 450 seats at the Orlando Improv and Kirkpatrick said he expects the same from its show at the Plaza.

Audience members can expect a “very unique comedy show,” he said. The show utilizes a combination of video, audio, spoofs and crowd interaction.

“We wanted to be different. Anybody can go see stand-up comics — they’re a dime a dozen,” said Kirkpatrick.
