September marks National Campus Safety Awareness Month and UCF is scheduled to hold noon safety sessions throughout the month.

On Wednesday, UCF kicks off the events with the sixth annual Campus Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Pegasus Ballroom, according to a release.

Coordinated by Victim Services, the fair will showcase services on and off campus related to crime and violence prevention, along with fire safety, community awareness and support.

"Information and hands-on activities will educate students about how to stay safe and equip them with the knowledge and tools to prevent and report crimes," according to the release.

Other UCF participants include: Active Minds, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Emergency Management, Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Ombuds Office, Department of Physics, Social Justice and Advocacy, Student Care Services, Student Health Services and Volunteer UCF.

The rest of the Student Union sessions for the month include:

  • Sept. 10: The UCF Police Department will present a class teaching tactics for surviving an active shooter scenario. The class will be held in Cedar Key room 223.
  • Sept. 15: Presented by SafeHouse of Seminole, the class will explore how music plays a role in relationship violence. The class will be held in Cedar Key room 223.
  • Sept. 22: Representatives from Victim Services will teach hazing prevention and bystander intervention. The class will be held in Key West room 218.
  • Sept. 29: UCF Cares and Victim Services will share tips and advice on how to help a person in crisis. The class will be held in Egmont Key room 224.
