UCF PD, medics respond to student passed out in HPA1
The UCF Police Department and Orange County Fire Rescue responded Monday afternoon to a student who passed out in the Health and Public Affairs I building, said UCF PD spokeswoman Courtney Gilmartin.
At least five UCF PD patrol cars responded to the scene, along with an Orange County Fire Rescue ambulance. Students who were in the classroom at the time said that the student appeared to stand up, bend backward over his chair and seize. Central Florida Future reporters on the scene overheard paramedics say they attempted to give the student CPR and used an automated external defibrillator to shock him twice, but he was still unresponsive.
Medics said the student was taken to the Oviedo ER. Counselors will be available for students who witnessed the incident.
