Michael Easton spent much of his four seasons at UCF making waves on special teams.

He's covered kickoffs, he's served as the gunner on the punt-coverage team and on Saturday he made his debut as a kickoff returner and it won't be a return he's soon to forget.

For his 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, the first UCF has had in two seasons, Easton was named the American Athletic Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week.

"I'm happy for Mike Easton, we've been looking for a kickoff return all season and he puts it in the end zone," head coach George O'Leary said. "He's put in a lot of time and is a good special teams player for us."

Upon returning to the sideline, he was mobbed by teammates who have seen his work on special teams throughout the years typically go unnoticed. At least for one week, Easton was in the spotlight.

"That's just 'Super Mike' — that's what we call him," senior linebacker Terrance Plummer said. "He's literally what UCF stands for; find your role on your team and do the best that you can."

UCF travels to face USF Friday at noon, a game that will be broadcast on ESPN2.
