It's all over for the Knights' softball team after its historic run ended in the championship game of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Sunday.
In the double elimination tournament, No. 13 UCF eliminated South Carolina, but dropped its second game to No. 9 Florida State, 5-0.
The Knights' historical season included the first time the team made back-to-back NCAA appearances. Their final record of 50-9 set marks for the most wins and fewest losses in program history.
"[It was] good to be able to have that kind of competition in a regional," head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie said. "We did our very best, but just came up a bit short."
Since the softball program began in 2002, the team has made six NCAA appearances.
