After being named UCF's Outstanding Defensive Lineman, senior Thomas Niles received a spot on the Outland Trophy Watch List.
The list, which was released by the Football Writers Association of America Friday, included 81 players who may be eligible to win an award for best interior lineman.
The winner will be selected from three finalists who are a part of the FWAA All-America Team. To be eligible for the award, finalists can only be interior linemen on offense or defense, making Niles not eligible, according to a news release.
Entering his senior campaign in 2015, Niles played in 39 career games and started in 33.
The Gainesville native was voted to the 2014 All-American Athletic Conference Second Team, becoming the first Knight in school history to post a sack in six consecutive games.
To prepare for the home season opener against FIU on Sept. 3, Niles will join the Knights in an open preseason camp Aug. 5.
