Men's basketball coach Donnie Jones decided to keep within the UCF family on Monday when he hired A.J. Register as the director of basketball operations for the 2015-16 season.

"He is a hard worker with a great skill set. A.J. will do a great job for us on the operational side of things," Jones said in a press release.

During the 2014-15 season, Register worked as a graduate assistant for the Knights, aiding with scouting reports, handling game film and organizing player development in the offseason.

Prior to his pursuit of a Masters of Arts degree in career and technical education at UCF, he spent time with the Alabama's men's basketball team as a student manager.

During his undergrad with the Crimson Tide, Register evaluated and logged film, assisted with the preparation of recruiting schedules and helped with the Anthony Grant Basketball Camp.

"I'm very grateful to Coach Jones for this opportunity," Register said in the release. "I can't wait to hit the ground running and help this program out in any way that I can. It's an exciting time for me and for UCF Basketball."
