Following a 5-0 win in its season opener against Florida Atlantic, the UCF men's soccer team had three players selected to the American Athletic Conference's weekly honors list.

Sophomores Matias Pyysalo and Neico Regent as well as freshman Gorka Aperribay were named Offensive, Defensive and Rookie of the Week, only missing out on Goalkeeper of the Week in the first release of the season.

Additionally, midfielder Pyysalo was selected to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week after earning six points, two goals and two assists, against the Owls, which was the most by a Knight since 2012 and second-most all time.

As a member of the back line, Regent also helped the Knights shut out the Owls, while forward Aperribay registered one goal on three shots as well as an assist.

UCF takes on Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Ft. Myers and returns home Sunday at 7 p.m. against Mercer.
