After ending their four-game winning streak on the road against the Detroit Titans Saturday, the UCF Knights (5-4) are set to challenge the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (4-7) tonight at CFE Arena at 7 P.M.
UCF wasn't able to overcome their first half deficit against Detroit, trailing 18-5 early in the matchup. The Knights fought back with a 13-1 run, but the Titans withstood the late rallies by the Knights, ultimately winning the game 94-89.
The Knights hold the series advantage versus Bethune-Cookman with a 15-7 record. The Knights have won eight straight meetings against the Wildcats – 10 if you include the vacated wins from 2009 and 2010.
The last loss for the Knights in this series came Feb. 23, 1994, in Daytona Beach, where the Wildcats won 90-85.
Although the Knights had a huge advantage in the size, the Titans won the rebounding battle 37-29. The Knights are currently ranked seventh in defensive rebounding (31.00) and 19th in the NCAA in total rebounding (43.11).
Redshirt sophomore A.J. Davis is starting to put his all-around game on display. In December, Davis has thus far averaged 16.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, two steals, and four assists.
