A big blow to the UCF Knights was announced on Wednesday by UCF men’s basketball Head Coach Donnie Jones that sophomore guard B.J Taylor will miss the remainder of the 2015-2016 season with a lower leg injury he suffered in October.
Taylor, who has been injured since, has not been part of any practices or games. Taylor, last year as a true freshman led the Knights and all freshmen in the American Athletic Conference in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game. Those 12.8 points per game were top ten overall in the AAC. Taylor ranked 13 in the conference with a .708 free throw shooting percentage and 15 in the AAC with a .349 three-point shooting percentage and 11 with 1.7 threes made per game. This earned him a much deserved spot on the AAC’s All-Rookie Team.
With a 101-96 overtime win against Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, the Knights are 6-4 on the season. UCF takes a week off for the holiday break and then returns home to the CFE Arena on Dec. 29 to take on the No. 20 ranked team, George Washington.
