On Thursday the women's soccer team announced its 2016 recruiting class. The class consists of nine freshmen, including five from Florida.

Several of the new additions to the Black and Gold come from foreign territories such as Finland, Sweden and France. The new Knights also show youth national team experience, winning championships on the state and national levels.

“We’re very proud to announce this year’s class of incoming Knights. I feel that we certainly hit the mark with this group of young women, and I’m happy that they’ve decided to pursue their future at UCF. I’m confident that we have strengthened our roster with these talented players,” head coach Tiffany Roberts said in a press release.

Christina Trickett is a 5-foot-5 midfielder from Independence, Ohio. She was the 2015 U19 U.S. National Team camp attendee, 2013 OHSAA Division 1 state champion, and All-Conference player at Walsh Jesuit high school. Off the field, Trickett is a member of the National Honors Society.

Mack Thompson is a 5-foot-7 defender from Valrico, Fla. She was a two-time captain and was named her teams' MVP her freshman year. She was an All-western Conference First Team Honoree in 2014, and a Tampa Tribune All-Hillsborough County Honorable mention in 2014 and 15’.

Lindsey Eaton is a 5-foot-7 forward from Lithia, Fla. Eaton was the standout for Newsome High School, who currently ranks No. 15 in the state. She recorded a solid 25 goals and 14 assists as a senior and played club soccer with fellow committee, Mack Thompson.

Jordan Walsh is a 5-foot-3 midfielder from Viera, Fla. She co-captained Viera High School to district and regional championships as well as the school’s first state title in school history in 2015. Walsh was also put on the Florida Today All-Space Coast First Team in 2015.

Payton Gerwal is a 5-foot-3 forward from Oviedo, Fla. She was Orlando Sentinel’s 2015 All-Area Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Gerwal scored 16 goals and eight assists in her junior season at Oviedo High School.  She also helped Oviedo win the 2015 Class 5A regional championship by scoring the opening goal in the team’s 3-1 win.

Alexandra Soree is a 5-foot-6 midfielder from Weston, Fla.  She was a three-time state champion at American Heritage High School.  She was a 2015 Sun Sentinel Broward County First Team selection and a 2014 Sun Sentinel All-County Second Team honoree. In her first three seasons at American Heritage, she racked up 53 goals and 38 assists.

Katriina (Kaka) Kuoska is a 5-foot-1 midfielder from Oulu, Finland. She represented Finland in the 2015 UEFA U19 Euro qualifiers and completed a hat trick in Finland’s 7-3 win over Poland. She was also a captain for Kastelli Secondary School’s soccer team.

Chloe N’gazi is a 5-foot-9 goalkeeper from Paris, France. She was a member of the U17-U19 teams for Paris Saint German from 2012-2015. In 2013, she was a U17 National Champion (France, PSG).

Julia Ekholm is a 5-foot-6 defender from Stockholm, Sweden.  She was veteran on Sweden’s youth national teams and she suited up for U17, U18, U19, and U20 teams. She also started in all five matches of Sweden’s run towards the gold in the 2015 U19 European Championship in Israel.

“I’m most excited about the type of people that we have added to our family. I’m looking forward to guiding them on their journey, and seeing them develop during their time here at UCF,” head coach Tiffany Roberts said  in a press release.
