Freshman utility player Matthew Mika was the hero of UCF's opening game of the 2016 campaign on Feb. 19 against the Siena Saints thanks to a walk-off single to right field that finalized a five run comeback. He was a huge contributor in game two of the series, crossing the plate five times and knocking in three RBI's on two hits. In game three, Mika added three more hits and runs, finishing off the series sweep against Siena while garnering the American Offensive Player of the Week award.

Mika, a Lake Worth, Fla. native, joins former UCF player and Knights of Honor inductee Dylan Moore as the second consecutive Knight to earn the award. Coincidentally enough, Moore earned the same award against Siena just a year ago.

Mika batted a .538 average and a 1.000 slugging percentage. He totaled two home runs and six RBI's.

Mika will look to continue his strong weekend performance when UCF hosts Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. at Jay Bergman Field.
