On March 11, the UCF Athletics announced that defensive lineman Dedrion Bacote has joined the Knights in their efforts to make a complete 180-degree turn from last year's no-win season.

Bacote stands at 6 foot 3 inches and 225 pounds. He was educated and played ball for Ocean Lakes High School, where he was coached by Chris Scott.

A son of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bacote brings experience from a winning program that claimed the 2014 6A state title. Posting 86 tackles and 21 for a loss of yards and forcing 16 sacks and seven fumbles as a senior, he earned the 2015 All-Coastal Conference First Team honor.

Bacote received offers from East Carolina, Indiana and South Carolina before making his decision.
