On Wednesday afternoon, Athletic Director Danny White announced the hiring of new Senior Associate Athletic Director for academic services, Eric Wood.

Wood since 2011, served as the Arkansas Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete services. Part of his job responsibilities included being a member of the Razorback's Executive Staff where he oversaw the office of student-athlete services. In 2014, he took on sport administrator duties  as well as controlling the duties of the Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

“I’m very pleased to bring Eric Wood into the Knights family,” White said. “He brings great credentials and a solid background of leadership and success. We have a great culture of academic success here at UCF and I know Eric is the right person to continue that tradition.”

In addition to having duties in the office of academic services for student-athletes, Wood will also serve as sport administrator for men's basketball and oversee the Knights strength and conditioning department.

“I'm so excited to become a UCF Knight and appreciative that Danny White and Dr. Anthony Jenkins selected me to lead the ASSA team,” Wood said. “The coaches are clearly recruiting top-notch student-athletes, who are committed to graduating and supported by an Academic Services team committed to assisting them with maximizing their potential.  I can't wait to get started.”

Wood graduated in 1998 from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. During his time at the university, Wood garnered a degree in psychology and was a three-year starting cornerback for the Pioneer football team. During that time, he earned the Medal of Merit which is the program's most prestigious award. He is currently working on earning his doctorate degree in Recreation and Sport Management at the University of Arkansas in the College of Education and Health Professions.
