Every time Hadji Barry has walked onto the field with the Orlando City B squad, it seems that he has influenced the game.
The problem is he has also shown those same characteristics with the main club, which has left him splitting time between the two teams.Wednesday night it was his run in the box that drew the penalty kick to give OCB the lead. Earlier in the season he had an assist that gave OCB a win.
The future looks bright for the UCF standout from Guinea but he admits that he could use some more time on the field.
"Minutes are very important for me, as much as I train, playing games is what is going to make me better," Barry said after Wednesday's loss. "If I get time with the first team or the second team, I am just going to give my all."
The 12th-overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft has played in three games with OCB and has an assist. He has also played in three games with the main club this season, recording an assist.
He will take the field with OCB once again Saturday night when they host Bethlehem Steel FC at Titan Soccer Complex on the campus of the Eastern Florida State College in the final game of a busy three-game week for the Lions. OCB heads into the matchup 2-4-1 on the season and has played better recently.
“We’re looking for a positive reaction from the guys after a disappointing result," OCB head coach Anthony Pulis said. "I thought the performance, for the most part, was good so if we can have a performance like we have done in the last three or four games then we’ll be pleased."
But they come into tonight's matchup with some questions as the team will be without its starting goalkeeper Mark Ridgers, who got a red card in the 76th minute Wednesday and has to miss Saturday's game.
Jake Fenlason came into the game and gave up two goals in the 3-1 loss. The team could give him his first start or send Earl Edwards Jr. down for the game. Edwards, who is the backup for the main club, started one game this season and allowed two goals.
